NSW February 2020 Storms

In the first part of February 2020, fires continued to burn in parts of southern New South Wales. All fires were declared under control by the 13th after widespread rain. However it went from one extreme to the other.

According to the Bureau of Meteorology, heavy rain in the first half of the month caused flooding on numerous rivers in eastern New South Wales, with disruptions to road and rail traffic. Major flooding occurred on the Orara, Hawkesbury-Nepean and Georges Rivers, with the Hawkesbury at North Richmond reaching its highest level since 1992

Thousands of Sydney homes were left without power. The oveturned yacht in the thumbnail image is located at Brooklyn, NSW, just north of Sydney. Perhaphs this extreme weather event is another example of the effects of climate change?
